HALE supporting literacy in Nepal
HALE will create an adult literacy program in Nepal with the intention of educating the students there in English and Nepalese. Today in Nepal, commuting to school can be a couple hours walk for both children and adults to and from school.
HALE’s intention is to go a step further and create a physical school that students can attend within their own village and integrate a program to ensure literacy. This school will teach English and Nepalese to both children and adults with a focus on mothers and their children. In most cases males are expected to work in Nepalese culture and usually are not interested in the school atmosphere. This project will involve building a school and delivering the literacy program through partnership with locals and HALE volunteers. HALE will oversee the overall financing and construction of the school as well as create the literacy program.
